Tyrrell's Old Winery range is named after the historic wineworks at Hunter Valley, built in 1858. Rose as a wine style has had many incarnations over the last century, from light, dry and savoury to rich, fruity and sweet. Old Winery is vinified to an old Rose technique that Tyrrell's employed in the 1960s, incorporating traditional skin contact methods from parcels of Hunter Valley fruit. The flavours develop early in the process at lower sugar and stronger acid levels. The aim is to achieve a balanced pink wine, fashioned for the everyday Australian lifestyle.

A serious contender for finest Cabernet Merlot in the land, having claimed awards at the highly prestigious London Wine Challenge and San Francisco International. William Redman came to Coonawarra as a fourteen year old boy, during the year of Australia's federation in 1901. He worked at the historical John Riddoch wineworks, learning his trade under tutelage of the great Ewen McBain, Coonawarra's first ever qualified winemaker. Redman continued to acquire land and plant vines, eventually becoming one of the region's most prominent landholders and founding the Rouge Homme label in 1950. The house style remains one of the most enduring legacies, from the establishment of Coonawarra to the present day.

Rosemount have always created popular wines that appeal to the Australian palate, one of the few labels that are well recognized overseas and continue to play an important role in satisfying the local enthusiasm for quality and value. Burke Reschke was the fourth generation to graze cattle, he took a keen interest in viticulture and sold his harvests to Coonawarrra's leading brands. The fruit was of such exceptional quality that it became an essential component for a number of icon wines. Reschke now retain the cream of their crop for their estate label. Two thirds Cabernet, the balance of Merlot, treated to two years seasoned French oak hogsheads and barriques. Full bodied, blackberries and mint, a seamless palate of structure and length, to match a cut of juicy beef, farmed by Reschke of course.

Redman, red estate, red soil and red wine, the four Rs which comprise the family coat of arms, working in harmony to produce the famous Cabernet of Coonawarra. The Redmans have been actively involved in all major developments involving Coonawarra viticulture since establishment in 1908. After joint ventures with Penfolds and Mildara, Dr Lindeman purchased the Redman property and renamed it Rouge Homme. The Redgate property is one of the southernmost vineyards on Margaret River, situated just three kilometres from the Indian Ocean. Bin 588 was first made in 1988 and has always included harvests of grapes sourced from good local vineyards. Winemaking at Pirramimma has been a family affair for well over a century, it now lies in the hands of the founder's grandchildren. Like all Pirramimma, Stocks Hill is completely vinified and matured on premises under patriarch Geoff Johnston's personal supervision. Clare Valley grows the most supple red wines, exhibiting a splendour and elegance unmatched anywhere else in Australia. An exquisite Cabernet Merlot accord, made delectable through the captivating Clare Valley perfumes of blueberry and mint, its seamless palate of plum bramble fruit, supported by succulent licorice tannins and framed by a veneer of warming oak.

Like her eponymous opera star, Melba is conspicuous for her alluring perfumes, exceptional taste and intense crescendos, before an exquisite, memorable finish.

McWilliam's inject a degree of excellence into all their production regardless of pricepoint. The winemaking team focuses on applying generations of accumulated expertise towards their expanse of vineyards in a manner that few other operations across the country can mobilize. Inheritance is fashioned to be approachable to all, an affable and flavoursome Cabernet Marlot that's built for immediate enjoyment, innately food friendly, simply splendid with bolognaise.

Grown in New Zealand's North Island region of Hawkes Bay, New Zealand's warmest grape growing region. The 2003 vintage was a small harvest of very mature and ripe fruit that exhibited good varietal flavours. The vines had extensive leaf removal in the fruit zone to expose the grapes to sunlight, assisting in developing colour and flavour. A well balanced finish with firm and chewy weight and a medium tannin finish, completes this fine accord of noble red wine grapes.

Mandoon are a Swan Valley operation of great provenance, their homestead vineyard being an ancient block established on the first rural grant in Western Australia, circa 1929 at a property named Sandalford. Always on the lookout for exceptional parcels of fruit, the highly decorated Mandoon team have focused on a northern block of Research Station Vineyard in Margaret River. A scrupulous excise of the most rigorous pick, is treated to the most exacting standards of vinification and a term of age in the finest coopered French oak.

The Long Flat viticultural team take great care throughout the growing season to encourage full physiological ripening in the grapes. Parcels with a concentration of flavour are treated to a highly skilled vinification and term of maturation in a selection of fine oak. Exhibiting the solid structure of a Cabernet wine, replete with varietal blackcurrant cassis characters, complimented by the plum and berry fruits of good Merlot. Drinkability, balance and a long fine finish, Long Flat wouldn't be out of place at a five star event.
